A brief intro:

AU-KBC Research Centre - India's first Public-Private Research Centre.

The centre is located in one of the famous institute Madras Insititute of technology where the present first citizen of the country graduated. Mr. K. B. Chandrashekar (Called as KBC), a successful entrepruener of the silicon valley and the alumni of this institute started the centre. KBC's instigation to start this centre is to generate papers, patents and products of International quality.
