[edit] Move proposal
This article should be moved to "Sathyan, Malayalam film actor" (comma is the thing per style, isn't it?). Nobody knows him as Sathyaneshan Nadar. Rajamankkan 05:22, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
- If the article is to be moved, it should be to Sathyan — which, at the moment, is a redirect here First, a comma would be wrong; the qualification would need parentheses. Secondly, a qualification is only needed as disambiguation from another article of the same name.
- Given that Sathyaneshan Nadar is his name, and that anyone looking up "Sathyan" would come straight here anyway (because of the redirect), it doesn't seem pressing. My own feeling is that an encyclopædia should use correct names for its articles; the use of nicknames is more suited to a fan publication.
- The problem here, though, in any case, is that the article has no sources at all, so that it's impossible to judge the question of which name is more common/popular. --Mel Etitis (Talk) 09:38, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

- Thanks for clarification. I have added two references. One about awards to a government of Kerala page and the other to IMDB. I don't know If we can follow the use of real names rather than popular names in the case of film stars in every case. In Indian cinema, actors very often change their real names to convenient and stylish names once they become actors. Many of the bollywood actresses had totally unknown real names. In the case of this article, I wouldn't have recognized it if I hadn't seen the photo. But, see, the actor is very familiar and I have seen many of his films. Madhu also has this problem, his real name being Madhavan Nair, which almost nobody knows. Still, I agree with you that the move is not very pressing as the first Google result returned for Sathyan is this article. Rajamankkan 10:18, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Sathyan.jpg
Image:Sathyan.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

I rewrote the article almost fully. Even the birthday was wrong in the original artcle. I have quoted all references as well. Need to have info on his death, which I couldn't find.--Anoopkn 13:47, 30 November 2007 (UTC)
