Satyapal Singh Yadav

Satyapal Singh Yadav is a former union minister of state in Government of India. He was minister in Atal Bihari Vajpayee government from 1998 to 1999 and held portfolio of food and consumer affairs. He was third time elected to Lok Sabha from Shahjahanpur in Uttar Pradesh in 1998 on Bharatiya Janata Party ticket.
He was born in 1942 and passed MA and LLM from Lucknow University . He joined politics soon after studies and elected to Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly in 1974 from the seat of Tilhar. He was elected as Leader of Opposition in The Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly.
Changed political parties at will. Had been member of Congress, BJP, Samajwadi Party, Janta Dal and Janta Dal (Ajit). His mentor was Chaudhari Charan Singh and later Chaudhari Ajit Singh.
His son has joined the politics after his death. His son is now MLA from Tilhar on a Samajwadi Party ticket.
His political base was mainly country side votes, and rarely focussed on city votes. Something which led to his political demice.
