Satya Pal Jain, MA, LLB, is a practicing Senior Advocate in Punjab and Haryana High Court, at Chandigarh. In 1991, he contested election to the Lok Sabha from Chandigarh as a candidate of the BJP but lost the elections by a margin of about 15,000 votes. However, he won the seat during next elections by defeating Pawan Kumar Bansal of the Congress(I) by a margin of about 25,000 votes in 1996. In 1998, again, he was re-elected to the Lok Sabha from Chandigarh Parliamentary Constituency by defeating Pawan Kumar Bansal by a margin of about 10,000 votes.
