Satti

The Satti (Urdu: ستی ) are a tribe of Punjab, Pakistan.

The Satti tribe have Persian ancestry. As a Persian caravan was on their way to invade Delhi, they stuck in mountains near Kashmir. A pregnant princess of Persia "Salala" wife of "Ameer Aalm" stayed there and gave birth to her son, later known as "Baba Satti", the descendants of Baba Satti are known as "Satti". Baba Satti grew up in the family of Brahamans. The Satti converted to Islam during medieval period.

Before the creation of "Kotli Sattian" as a separate Tehsil from Murree - the Satti tribe were the second largest group. Now they form a much smaller proportion of the population of Murree Tehsil, limited mainly to the 'Gehl Sattian' areas and a few groups living in Circle Bakote.
