Satomi Noda (野田 聡美 Noda Satomi) is a character in the novel Battle Royale, and the film and manga of the same name. In the film she was played by Sayaka Kamiya.
Satomi has a blood type of AB.
[edit] Pre-program
Satomi Noda is one of the class of third-year students at the fictional Shiroiwa Junior High School in Shiroiwa, Kagawa Prefecture. She was a model student, but was often referred to as being "frigid". She wore wire-rimmed glasses, and was very intelligent. In the manga, she was part of the drama club.
She was a student who took pride in her schoolwork and helping others a lot, but she never was interested in anything else like watching baseball. This was why she was frigid and has a high paranoia level.
[edit] During the program
Satomi was one of the girls who joins Yukie Utsumi and her group at the lighthouse. Her designed weapon was a Uzi submachine gun in all versions, which she uses to kill all of her friends .
In the film, Satomi moans about only living until the next day. Yukie comforts her, telling her that she will find a way out of the scenario.
After Yuko Sakaki tries to poison Shuya Nanahara, but accidentally kills Yuka Nakagawa. The girls suspect each other, thinking that one of themselves is the murderer. Satomi realises she should kill her friends since she has the chance to and win the program. She was the first one to become panicked enough to grab her gun and points it at her friends (Yuko kept away), Haruka Tanizawa gets suspicious and blames her for poisoning Yuka because Satomi never slept the last few nights on the island (In the manga, Haruka blames her for acting a raving paranoid role since Satomi did drama at school) and believes Satomi doesn't trust any of them. Chisato Matsui grabs her gun but Satomi then shoots her in seconds, Yukie Utsumi then panics and points it at Satomi but she stops her and shoots her dead. Yukie tried to stop Satomi but failed, and lastly Haruka Tanizawa dives for Yukie's gun but she is shot through the side in a frenzied panic. Haruka (Yukie in the film) manages to shoots Satomi in the head.
In the manga after she kills her friends, Haruka is still alive and while Satomi tells Yuko the coast is clear, Haruka shoots her in the head.
In the novel, Haruka is still alive at this point. She shoots Haruka again (possibly accidentally), killing her.
In the film lighthouse scene which is slightly different from the novel and manga, Yukie and Haruka end up in a gunfight with Satomi after she killed Chisato, while in the other versions, Satomi finished her friends off one by one until she dies.
In the film, Yukie receives no additional gunfire. Satomi muses about the possibility of living until the next day (in the French-language dub, she also muses about seeing the sea at the dawn). Satomi speaks her last words to Yuko.
In all versions she has glasses.
