[edit] Regis College

Dear anonymous editor, thanks for your contributions to the Regis College article. They add a lot of useful information. Unfortunately, they may not be usable by Wikipedia. Frankly, they sound like they have been copied from a brochure and thus a) constitute a copyright violation (see WP:Copyright) and b) violate our policies on WP:Conflict of interest. If you are working on behalf of Regis as an administrator, faculty member, PR agency, or whatever, your contributions to the Regis College article may not represent the neutral point of view that is Wikipedia policy. Thanks, --Macrakis 15:07, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

Reponse to Macrakis - Dear Macrakis, While I can understand how some of the information on this page may seem to have been copied, it is indeed, not the case. I admit to having retrieved the statistical numbers regarding current enrollment, number of faculty and the number of periodicals able to be accessed from the library, as well as the specific years that Regis received recognition in public media, from the Regis College website itself. However, the rest of the information is information I learned and experienced as a Regis College student and graduate of the college. Is there some particular piece of information that is of concern to you? I am happy to revise as is neccessary to maintain the integrity of Wikipedia. Thanks. (unsigned)

Glad to hear it. My mother taught at Regis for many years, and I'm happy to have a good article on it. Though there's a natural tendency to be proud of one's alma mater, we try to keep articles free of boosterism. We also try to make sure that a full range of perspectives is given. --Macrakis 15:53, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

I understand. I was not under the impression that I was posting inappropriate information, as I got the idea of "Accolades" from the Regis University site on Wikipedia which has the very same section presented in a rather biased nature. I stumbled upon it when I decided to search for Regis College to see what was written about it. I was disappointed in what I found, so I decided to add what I know from attending college there. Is there a way for me to "tone down" the information to present it in a more factual fashion that would be considered acceptable? Thank you for your time and guidance SarahSeneca 18:24, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

Not sure what I can say to help, but if you go to another institution's page and the presentation or the content seems "rather biased", take that as an indication of the sort of thing to avoid! For that matter, why not improve that article as well, both by direct edits and by comments on its Talk page. Again, Welcome to Wikipedia. --Macrakis 19:03, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
