Sarvaš

Sarvaš (German: Sarwasch-Hirschfeld, Hungarian: Szarvas) is a village in eastern Slavonia, Croatia, located east of Osijek. It has a population of 1,539 (census 2001). It is administratively located within the area of the city of Osijek.

According to the 1931 census in the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, the town's population included 1157 Germans.[1] The town experienced a heavy exodus of Germans in the period from 1944 to 1945.[2]

The local Catholic church was largely destroyed by Serb aggressors in the country's War of Independence.[2] By 2006 the church was restored.[3]
