Sarntal (Italian: Sarentino; German: Sarntal) is a comune (municipality) in the province of Bolzano-Bozen in the Italian region Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol, located about 70 km northeast of the city of Trento and about 15 km north of the city of Bolzano. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 6,671 and an area of 302.3 km².[1]

The municipality of Sarntal (Sarentino) contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Sarentino (Sarnthein), Sonvigo (Aberstückl), Acereto (Agratsberg), Campolasta (Astfeld), Prati (Auen), Pennes di Fuori (Ausserpens), Spessa (Dick), Valdurna (Durnholz), Montessa (Essenberg), Campo di Ronco (Gebracksberg), Gentersberg-Kandelsberg, Collerno (Glern), Pennes di Dentro (Innerpens), Mules (Muls), Vangabassa (Niederwangen), Villa (Nordheim), Riodeserto (Öttenbach), Pozza (Putzen), S.Martino (Reinswald), Montenovale (Riedelsberg), Stetto (Steet), Trina (Trienbach), Boscoriva (Unterreinswald), Selva di Vormes (Vormeswald), Riobianco (Weissenbach) and Lana al Vento (Windlahn).
