Sarkis Sözkes

Sarkis Sözkes ( Sozkes ) was born in Turkey in 1974. He has graduated from Marmara University faculty of Dentistry and had post graduated studies in Periodontology and Biomedical Engineering. He has focused on dental implant failures and made researches on 3D Biomedical Implant design prototypes for improving the immediate stability of dental implants.

Dr Sarkis Sözkes has actively involved in associational activities, starting from his first years in the dental faculty. He has been the President of Istanbul Dental Students Committee of TurkDentsic, and afterwards the vice-president for the National Student Association called Turkdentsic (Turkish Dental Students International Committee). After his active involvement in Turkdentsic, he was elected as the General Secretary of [IADS]-International Association of Dental Student. The following year he was elected as the first representative from Turkey to be the IADS President. He was re-elected the following year, and then he has been awarded the Honorary Life Membership of IADS. He has been the president of the organising committee of 1999 ( Istanbul), 2001 (Kuala Lumpur-Joint with FDI) and 2003(Istanbul) IADS Congresses, and also the moderator of the two email groups for more then 10 years of 1000 members from more the 50 countries.

Since 2005, he has been the delegate of TDA- Turkish Dental Association to FDI-World Dental Federation and also the NLO- National Liaison Officer. He has also chaired the International Relations committee of 14th International TDA Congress.

While representing the TDA in FDI, in 2007 he was appointed as the CE Programme Manager of the FDI for Eastern Europe. He is actually representative of World Dental Federation- FDI in the Eastern European Countries for the continuing Education programmes in Dentistry.
