A right turn from Madhya Kailash Junction takes you to Old Mahabalipuram Road (IT Expressway) which has now been christened Rajiv Gandhi Salai. [edit] Traffic Situation

The stretch of road between Raj Bhavan (Tamil Nadu) and Halda Junction is one-way and vehicles can go only in the direction of Halda Junction. The remaining portions are two-way. The road is known for its traffic bottlenecks especially during peak hours. The narrow, one-way flyover in front of IIT has added to the traffic problem and has also deprived a prestigious institute like IIT of frontage. As a result, vehicles coming to IIT from Raj Bhavan side have to take a U-Turn from Madhya Kailash. Crossing over to the IIT side of the road is a nightmare due to the fast traffic from the one-way flyover. This is especially for students of Kendriya Vidyalaya and Vanavani Schools in the IIT Campus. In contrast, Anna University has been provided with good frontage and pedestrian crossing signals.
