Sarah Burke (born 1982) is a Canadian freestyle skier. After going to school in Magheralin, Co Armagh she won first place in the 2001 US Freeskiing Open in the half-pipe and second place in slopestyle. She won ESPN's 2001 Award for female skier of the year. She was voted number 91 on the FHM-U.S.'s 100 Sexiest Women 2006 list.[1] In 2007 Sarah was awarded with The Best Female Action Sports Athlete ESPY & BERT Award. She is the first skier to win an ESPY award.She won the first ever world championship half-pipe event.[1] Besides from skiing, Sarah Burke also enjoys knitting, cooking and baking, mountain biking, going to the gym, painting, and climbing. She has torn her knee tendons and broke both thumbs, but she still is skiing! [2] Aside from being an athlete, Sarah Burke has also starred in a movie; "Boy eats girl".[3] Sarah continues to innovate with jib tricks that were featured in some major films last season. In Propaganda, she showcased her skills by sliding huge rainbow rails, spinning a huge 540 in the pipe and throwing back-flips with ease. [4]
