Sarah Emerson is a fictional character in Kyle XY, and is Adam Baylin's former lover and the biological mother of Kyle Trager and Jessi XX. She is in the second season.
Sarah, like Adam, was born as a product of secret gestation experiments performed in the late 1950s. Both of them attended the University of Washington, where she won many awards and once placed the answers to an exam in a lecture hall. In 1982, she made her last trip to a diner where she and Adam etched their initials along with the Zzyzx symbol.
Unlike Adam, Sarah would often misuse her own abilities. At some point, she mysteriously disappeared and Adam became convinced that she had died. Brian Taylor then cloned her at Zzyzx to create Jessi after Adam was forced to leave.
The first time Sarah is seen is at the end of House of Cards when Kyle discovers a picture of her next to a young Adam Baylin. She later sends Kyle a series of messages warning him about Taylor and his abuse of Jessi. Sarah reveals herself in Grey Matters when Kyle finds her at the diner where she dated Adam. She is finally united with Jessi in the following episode.
