Sara M. Harvey

Sara M. Harvey (born March 11, 1976) is a published writer of both fiction and nonfiction and an award-winning costume designer. She lives in Nashville, Tennessee with her fiance and two dogs.

[edit] Biography
Harvey was born in San Leandro, CA, and grew up in the East Bay area of Castro Valley, CA. She graduated from Moreau Catholic High School and attended college at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, WA, and California State University, East Bay in Hayward, CA (then known as California State University Hayward) before earning a bachelor of arts in theatre arts with an emphasis in costume design from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
She holds a master of arts in visual culture, with an emphasis in costume history, from New York University.
Harvey's first novel, "A Year and a Day," was published in 2006. Her upcoming project will be "The Convent of the Pure," a novella published with Apex Books and has a publication date of spring 2009.

Harvey spent several years working for the costume department of the Renaissance Entertainment Corporation on events held in California and Wisconsin. She also spent a year and three months working in the Creative Costume Department of Walt Disney World in Orlando (Lake Buena Vista), Florida.
She is currently employed as an instructor of design and fashion history at the International Academy of Design and Technology branch in Nashville, Tennessee (called IADT Nashville for short). Her convention appearances frequently include costuming panels and demonstrations.

Harvey appears at science fiction- and horror-themed conventions as well as costuming shows.
She is a regular guest at Arisia in Cambridge, MA, Chattacon in Chattanooga, Tennessee, MidSouthCon in Memphis, TN, Hypericon in Nashville, TN, Pi-Con in West Springfield, MA, Archon in the St. Louis suburb of Collinsville, IL, and Philcon in Philadelphia, PA.
Harvey won a 2007 Best in Show award at the St. Vincent de Paul Society's Discarded to Divine event.
Harvey was featured as the Ordinary Listener of the Week on 96.3 Jack FM in Nashville, TN from May 26- June 1, 2008.
