[edit] Madeira

The reason for the creation of all the work groups of the Africa WikiProject is that thoae areas are physically in Africa, but they are currently politically tied to other countries. I have no reason to believe that those territories are likely to declare independence anytime soon, but the possibility exists. Therefore, the separate work groups were created as subprojects of both Africa and their "parent" countries. In many cases, editors familiar with Africa will be better informed on some of the aspects of these regions, in fields like geology, wildlife, etc., and in those cases the ties to Africa are useful. Otherwise, in terms of political matters and some history, the ties to the parent state are useful. The current categorization of the Madeira work group also automatically places assessed articles in subcategories of the appropriate Portugal articles by quality and importance categories as well, so that the articles will appear on both project's assessment statistics charts. This format permits eventually both a greater focus on the overseas territories than they have often to date received while maintaining the ties to both parent projects. Actually, such work groups have been created for all the overseas territories of European states. It does create a bit more complexity, but it deals with complex matters like overseas territories. As I finish the various recognized content sections, the content there will be added to the similar sections of both parent projects as well, thus allowing both projects to at least potentially help improve or maintain the most important content, as well as all the other articles. Basically, it is somewhat following the model of the Military history and other similar projects, which often use the same set up. John Carter (talk) 14:03, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] diseased/deceased

When you talk about a "diseased operating system" and a "diseased Sega Saturn emulator", do you perhaps meant to say "deceased instaed of "diseased"? --DonDiego (talk) 10:12, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] ogg problem

Hello Ivo. I was wondering if you could help with an ogg audiovideo problem.

I've put an audiovideo into an article, here. The video is fine, but the audio only seems to work when I run VLC(Activex), and not when I run Cortado(Java) or QuickTime (ActiveX). Any idea what the problem is, or how it can be fixed? Thanks.Ferrylodge (talk) 02:54, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

Never mind. I think it's fixed now.Ferrylodge (talk) 02:18, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Portugal project banner

It didn't already have it. I tried to nest it on a talkpage and it didn't work, so I added it in. I then checked the history as I thought it was extremely odd that it didn't have it and it turns out Dbachmann removed it with these three edits, presumably as a copy and paste since it says that the template is transcluded 100,000 times (it isn't). Currently, as far as I am aware, there is no redundancy in the coding and everything is back to normal. Regards. Woody (talk) 23:44, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
