[edit] Cloudless Sulphur

Thanks for finishing the cleanup for me, Sannse. It looks great! I removed it from Cleanup, which is why I was working on it. I also doubt that it is still a stub, but I won't force the issue. Thesteve 20:08, 5 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Ah, I didn't realise it was on cleanup - I just stumbled across it looking at butterfly stuff. It could probably be expanded, so I'd call it a stub, but feel free to change it if you disagree :) Now if you are interested in butterflies, I have a common blue image wanting a stub ;) -- sannse (talk) 20:21, 5 Jul 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Pic of the day

I knew I was doing something terribly wrong, though I had thought that my ignorance alone would be a good enough excuse. All apologies to all involved; I will pay for my mistake no doubt by receiving some truly hellish ribbing from the Lady Angela of the Pictures at our next encounter; a good and proper English scolding that makes the American detention look like a Swedish massage and a Mexican fiesta all rolled into one. -Stevertigo

[edit] More Mediation Committee items

Hullo! Peter just responded that he has no preference for a mediator at Wikipedia:Requests_for_mediation#User:Herschelkrustofsky_and_User:DJSupreme23. Are you able to follow up on this one? If not, I certainly can -- please just let me know if you need me to.

Also, I will be out of town from Thursday 15 July through Tuesday 20 July with limited ability to edit (although I will be able to see what's happening through my web-enabled PDA, it has a problem editing anything larger than 255 characters). Thanks, BCorr|Брайен 19:11, 12 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Thanks for the speedy reply. I will get back to Krusty and DJ as soon as I can. And perhaps I will ask Angela and Ed if they can keep an eye on things over the next few days. And I do understand if you need to take a break. Peace, BCorr|Брайен 20:18, 12 Jul 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Duck

The duck you have seen is a Mandarin Duck. The third picture, as you correctly speculate, is a male, unfortunately in eclipse plumage rather than its breeding finery. The red bill confirms it as a male. Jim

Thanks Jim. I'll fix and upload the best image I have of mother and babies. I won't bother with the male in eclipse, because it wasn't much of a photo. I really need a better bird book (and a lot more experience!) Thanks again for the help -- sannse (talk) 06:56, 24 Jul 2004 (UTC)

[edit] CKC breeds

yes, if you could send me the list of breeds for the canadian kennel club, that would be great. thanks. Lachatdelarue 19:46, 30 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Hi Lachatdelarue, it's on its way to you. Let me know if it doesn't get through to you OK. -- sannse (talk) 20:13, 30 Jul 2004 (UTC)
Got it just fine, thank you. My other question is how do you know which breed is in what group? Lachatdelarue 23:15, 30 Jul 2004 (UTC)
Mostly I used the [dogs in Canada] site, as that was mentioned in the e-mail from the CKC. Where they didn't have the info, I did a search on other sites to find the group and fill in the gaps. Canada's guide to dogs for example, lists the Affenpinscher as in the toy group. I'm afraid I didn't find a definitive list, so had to make my own. Again - I can send a copy to you if you want it. Although the info is in an Excel spread sheet, so I would have to send it as an attachment and can't do that via Wikipedia. If you would like a copy, just e-mail me via the link here, which will give me your address to send the file to. -- sannse (talk) 10:06, 31 Jul 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Grammy pages format

Thanks for your message. I replied breifly on my talk page. I find having section headers useful when I wish to make some spot edits. Recently I've been bit by bit changing references to "Rachmaninov" to "Rachmaninoff" (after the page was moved to the later spelling after someone made a good case that we should use the spelling that Rachmaninoff himself used while he lived in the West. And of course those who cared deeply about changing the spelling didn't stick around to help clean up the redirects). There are still a number of links to the "ov" spelling in Grammy pages to do. My other edits were made in a "let me take care of this while I'm here" spirit. I'm sure others will have occasion to make spot edits to the pages in the future as well (add a link to a new article on an album, etc). The section headers really do make it easier to edit when you're mostly interested in one small section of a sizable article. But as occasional spot edits are about all I expect to do on the Grammy pages, I'll defer to those who work with those pages more closely. I didn't mean to mess up a standardized format if one has been decided on. Feel free to revert what I did-- other than the changing the Rachmaninoff links to the "off" spelling :-) Best wishes, -- Infrogmation 15:06, 17 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Humm, I see what you mean - the edit links are handy. I wouldn't say a format has really been decided on, there aren't enough people working on the section to have done so (just me most of the time, and I've only just returned to it after a long break). I've just picked a format that was used early on and kept to it for the other years. What about this as a mid-way format? That gives edit links, but doesn't split the page into tiny sections, or put in the oversized contents box (or do you find that particularly useful too?) -- sannse (talk) 15:18, 17 Aug 2004 (UTC)
That one with headers and NTOC looks good to me. One point: If I recall correctly, the prefered format is to have sections with two "=", with the three "=" being reserved for sub-sections. Or was there a particular reason why you went with the three instead of two? Cheers, -- Infrogmation 15:34, 17 Aug 2004 (UTC)
Just because the line across the page from a section headings (in monobook skin) looks strange to me with such small sections. But I think you are probably right - the convention of using == for section headings should probably overrule my aesthetic concerns ;) I'll go for the conventional headings but without the table. Regards -- sannse (talk) 16:04, 17 Aug 2004 (UTC)
Ut! I hadn't known that in some skins the headers give lines across the page now! No, that doesn't sound aesthetically pleasing. Ah well. Cheers, -- Infrogmation 16:14, 17 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Just wanting to reply to your thanks. =) I wouldn't worry too much about the broken links, as most people wouldn't think to put up a page on every given composer, writer, etc that's won a Grammy. Maybe in the future, someone will, but not yet. Concerning the brackets, it's nothing compared with the number of people who don't bother to put things in the proper date format. =/ Anyways, sounds like a lively discussion on the style of the Grammy pages here. I'll be sure to come back and see what format become the consensus.Ricky81682 22:20, Oct 31, 2004 (UTC)

In the end I went for a midway format by making a second level heading for "Award winners", which let me get away with a third level heading for the sections. It seemed to work - and hasn't been changed by anyone yet ;) -- sannse (talk) 23:13, 31 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Did you ever get any kind of response to your query on User_talk:MasterDirk about Image:Eros.jpg? I'm guessing not, since the old grainy photo is still there, but I thought I'd ask in case you got some sort of "maybe later" or some such response. Elf | Talk 03:34, 23 Aug 2004 (UTC)

I didn't, but you just did :) (User talk:MasterDirk). It's a shame, it's such a lovely pose, but I think we will have to replace it with a better quality image if we can get one. -- sannse (talk) 09:48, 23 Aug 2004 (UTC)
I've been pleased how many licensing/copyrt issues I've been able to clear up by asking, but sadly there are a lot of really nice photos that have no info and no way of contacting the contributor. I'm working my way slowly through the breeds and listing free-use images here and questionable and unusable images here. I'm hesitant to remove images that were probably taken by individual contrib's and meant for use along with the rest of Wiki's content, but I'm afraid that in the long run we might have to. Elf | Talk 20:20, 23 Aug 2004 (UTC)
Yes, I think we will have to - but most of them can be taken down as we get something to replace them. Thankfully dogs are a subject that lots of people are willing to share pictures of! You are doing a fantastic job :) -- sannse (talk) 20:29, 23 Aug 2004 (UTC)

[edit] SBVT

I didn't notice that the SVBT page was protected (IIRC, it only had a "disputed neutrality" notice at the top) - I was just following up on a request to get rid of some POV redirects and I idly glanced at the article and noticed that piece of data was missing - I normally stay away from politics pages. I don't know if you want to unprotect it - maybe keep an eye on it and see how it goes? Noel 19:03, 14 Sep 2004 (UTC)

I'm a great avoider of politics pages too. But I've unprotected (I did so a couple of hours after your edit) and I will try to keep an eye out in case protection is needed again. The "protected" notice was there - I'm guessing you didn't see it because of a temporary cache problem or something. Regards -- sannse (talk) 20:10, 14 Sep 2004 (UTC)
Nah, it probably was there - I expect I just didn't see it because I quickly scrolled down into the article (having not really planned to go there), and didn't realize what it was as it zipped past my eye. (I haven't seen one in aeons - I normally stay out of controversial articles! :-) I'll keep an eye on the page too. Noel 20:36, 14 Sep 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Cloudsurfer says hi!

Dear Sannse, thanks for the welcome. Yes, I should put something about myself in there and will in the coming weeks. At the moment I am still enthused about fixing some of the things I notice in articles where I have some knowledge. Also, we shrinks are a little careful of our privacy. But I am sure I can get over that. Thank you also for your support. You may have come across something I wrote recently that mentioned this support without giving you credit. I hope you understood the reason for anonymity was not to reignite any conflicts. --CloudSurfer 19:12, 15 Sep 2004 (UTC)

Dear Sannse, I have tweaked photo on your user page by expanding its dynamic range. If you like it then please replace the original with this one. Image:Shiba Inu 600a.jpg--CloudSurfer 20:49, 18 Sep 2004 (UTC)

Hi CloudSurfer, Sorry for the slow reply, I've been away for a couple of days. Thanks for the changes to the image. It is an improvement from my rather over-dark version. I'm a bit worried about the colours though, which seem a bit bright to be natural for the breed. I'll get a second opinion from another dog breed person I think. Thanks again :) -- sannse (talk) 16:13, 21 Sep 2004 (UTC)
The higher saturation of colours goes hand in hand with what I did. The colours can then be dulled down by reducing the saturation but this is best done by eye I think as I do not know of a calibrated solution. I might have a play with separating the original photograph into Lab colour which produces a luminance channel with no colour in it and see if that can be rendered with more contrast without changing the chrominance values. I think however this is doomed to failure. In the end, changing it by eye might be the best way. --CloudSurfer 21:07, 21 Sep 2004 (UTC)
No I think what you did was fine - I was just more used to the dull version. Which is why I got that second opinion from a doggy person.... and Elf agrees the colours are right. I've uploaded your version over mine at Image:Shiba_Inu_600.jpg - you may need to force a refresh to see the change. You might be interested to know that the image is actually the result of a merging to two photos. The dog disliked me and wouldn't hold up its tail and look at me at the same time. So the tail is from one photo and the rest of the dog from another. I don't think there is any sign of a join :) Thanks again -- sannse (talk) 21:12, 21 Sep 2004 (UTC)
Well done! I hadn't noticed that at all. In between my last post and your post I reduced the saturation a touch. Have a look at Image:Shiba Inu 600a.jpg and you will see the difference. Up to you which is best. --CloudSurfer 22:09, 21 Sep 2004 (UTC)
Yes, I think that does improve it further, thanks! I'm learning to do this stuff on my images, but still have a long way to go. -- sannse (talk) 22:20, 21 Sep 2004 (UTC)
I have never tried this but it is used in the movies etc. Have a greyscale card with 100% black and 100% white and perhaps refence colours in a part of the picture you intend to later crop out. Then change the RGB components of the picture individually until you have the black rendered as 100% black and the white as 100% white. You can test that by using the eyedropper of your image software. You can then test the colour part of the card for reference if you have them. You will then have real colours as close to calibration as you can. Another way is to set the camera to full manual and the white balance to manual using a white sheet. Then take a calibration picture with the greyscale and then your actual picture/s. Mind you, this is really only necessary if you want to achieve an almost calibrated colour rendition which you might want for references of things like animals or flowers. Come to think of it, I must try this out. It sounds like fun. --CloudSurfer 22:57, 21 Sep 2004 (UTC)
Ah, the fun of discovering things. I did try this out and found that the other thing I needed to do once I had set the white and black extremes for each colour (RGB) was to change the gammas for the red, green and blue so that 50% black had values close to 127 for each colour. Once this was done the picture looked very real in terms of colours and overall contrast. All much easier to do visually but useful if you want a calibrated colour picture as a reference. Naturally you have to be careful that the greyscale card does not get washed out by reflections and make sure that it is placed so that it catches the lighting that lights the subject. Maybe all you really need on the card is white, 50% grey and black. --CloudSurfer 07:55, 22 Sep 2004 (UTC)
Interesting. I've been looking at the white balance settings on my camera, I think I will start there. It seems pretty straight forward on my camera to vary this, and should help with some of the problems I've been having in getting a good representation of blues and whites. I'll also try more adjusting by eye. I'm hoping to join a local camera club soon, which will hopefully also have an effect on my camera skills. Lots to learn! -- sannse (talk) 16:32, 22 Sep 2004 (UTC)

Hehe. Once I thought it I couldn't resist adding it to the edit comment. A tribute to you wonderful copy-editing skills (not that there is much to check in this particular case). I worked out why we didn't see this article earlier: the original version of this article was a copyright problem (now deleted). So the first edits of this version were at Lhasa Apso/Temp (not on our watchlists of course). I imagine we both saw and ignored the version with the copyright infringement notice and then only saw this one once Delirium had moved the article to the correct title and deleted the redirect. It makes sense in a convoluted sort of way ;) -- sannse (talk) 11:55, 24 Sep 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Request for disambiguation

Dear Sannse, I couldn't find the right wiki page to ask for this and I remembered that this was an interest area of yours. The Robert Louis Stevenson article has had an addition to the top of it that begs for a disambiguation. All the best. --CloudSurfer 03:03, 6 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Hi CloudSurfer. I've removed the notice - dismbiguation notices are only needed to prevent confusion over articles and I don't think that applies in this case. Let me know if you disagree. Regards -- sannse (talk) 19:32, 6 Oct 2004 (UTC)
I tend to agree but I don't think the Stevenson School people would, which is why someone put that message in the article in the first place. Reading their article, the school was until 2000 called "Robert Louis Stevenson". We also have a school here in Samoa called "Robert Louis Stevenson". His home Vailima is now called the "Robert Louis Stevenson museum". One day I might get around to writing an article on this. There is a "Robert Louis Stevenson Park" in List of California state parks although there is no article on it at present. I am ambivalent about it all but I guess it is fair that anyone looking for a reference to the school by looking at the RLS article would not now be able to find it. They could search Wikipedia but that's a hassle. Up to you! --CloudSurfer 06:06, 7 Oct 2004 (UTC)

[edit] RK explanation

Or rather, apology. I've posted in reply to you on the talk page, and also in a note to the mailing list. I screwed up because of my inexperience as an arbitrator and a general excess of haste in trying to settle arbitration affairs. I've been taking complaints about the speed with which we move a little too personally, and so I moved with too much speed here, causing a completely unintended slight to RK in my handling of the block. I have apologized to him and to the community in both places, and I apologize to you also, for not having seen and replied to your comment earlier. I will do all that I can to set this right. Thank you for keeping me honest, and for helping me see where I've dropped the ball. Jwrosenzweig 21:54, 15 Oct 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Christian*

I noticed you disambiguated Christian on a page where it was a partial link within the word "Christianization"", it was supposed to link to Christianization which is a separate article.

Then again, you might want to consider making a different type of disambiguation by having Christian point to Christianity directly and have a Christian (disambiguation) for the corner cases. I had already suggested this on Talk:Christian but nobody noticed it apparently. --Joy [shallot] 12:54, 17 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Hi Joy. Yep - that was a borderline case - I considered linking to Christianization but as the link was set up as Christianization I felt it was more in keeping with the original intent to disambiguate the part linked. I don't remember which one it was now - so if you haven't changed it yet feel free to do so.
As for the more general question - I have no really strong feelings either way. I have a slight dislike of name (disambiguation) pages, but they have their place of course. If you choose to make this change I'll simply move on to fixing a different disambiguation page ;-) Regards -- sannse (talk) 14:35, 17 Oct 2004 (UTC)

And I hope I never make it to the top 50. :-) I know I'm having a badly addictive month when my number creeps higher. My current goal is to drop back below 300. We'll see... I figure, let's see, 40 hours of work a week, 10 hours of dog training, 45 hours of sleep, 2 hours of walking for exercise, 5 hours for meals--that's out of 5 days, since I'm usually off competing on weekends--that leaves me an average of 3 hours a day for, oh, say, showering, chores, laundry, shopping, socializing, yardwork, movies, reading... and when I find myself putting in 4 or 5 hours a day of wikipedia, I'm doomed. [edit] Dogs are Wikipedians best friends

Thanks for your welcome Sannse! Glad to see that Border collie of yours, I actually "grew up" as shepheard in the urban town of Stockholm in the seventies, until I started with elephants. Passed over some 3 generations of lovely working dogs. Yes, I may need some help, but will post it at the project page, when I can concreticize (difficult word for me as a swede) my questions. I am presently starting on http://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siberian_Husky, you cann freely comment in english on the discussion page, if you want to assist me Online. Dan Koehl 12:50, 12 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Yep, that's usually the best place to post - I think everyone involved in the project has that page on their watchlist so you are most likely to catch us there :) -- sannse (talk) 18:59, 12 Nov 2004 (UTC)

I started off with the history of the Borzoi and the Rough Collie, (not mentioning the gardener who bred them for the queen, maybe u know) please check my english. Today was snow in Vienna!! Dan Koehl 00:22, 13 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Good work. Someone got there before me on both though :) -- sannse (talk) 00:15, 14 Nov 2004 (UTC)

No please correct it, the guy who cleaned my english totally misunderstood. I used the word Fixate not breaking the neck. (Terrible...)

What bozois puppys do, when they play as two against a singe dog of another breed, is that they often end up in a position where the victim cant move, the borzois hold the neck in abt 90 degrees from both sides, and the other dog cant reach anyone, not defend itself, it is sitaution of imobilization, (which made it very easy for the hunter to kill the wolf with a knife) but of course they diont break the neck on the other dog. Sorry for this, but borzoi puppys arent mudreres, they just exhibit an extremely interesting behvaiour handed down in theri DNA from hundreds of years of breeding. Please post me when this is corrected, I wish I would be able to do it myself :) Dan Koehl 12:50, 14 Nov 2004 (UTC)

User:DragonflySixtyseven fixed the error on the en. Borzoi page. I left a note on your Swedish talk page, as you're more likely to see it there quickly :) -- sannse (talk) 18:12, 14 Nov 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Adam Carr mediation

Hello, thank you for your message alerting me that you have removed my comment from the Mediation page. I would like the mediation committee to see that comment, because I feel it would help them with their decision. There is a broader issue here that they may want to take into account. I feel it is important they should know that editors other than Adam are being swamped by the LaRouche people. Slim 21:20, Nov 16, 2004 (UTC)

Sannse, I have instead posted my message to the mediation committee on the discussion page of Requests for mediation. I hope this is okay. Slim 21:35, Nov 16, 2004 (UTC)

I am not declining mediation, though on past experience I see little scope for mediating beween legitimate editors and cultist wreckers like Herschelkrustofsky. Any settlement would have to include his agreement not to edit Australian history or politics articles. Adam 21:59, 16 Nov 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Lir

asdsadaLirath Q. Pynnor

The above edit was in response to a request to confirm that the person I was talking to, who claims to have edited under the IP 209.181.211.69, is Lir -- sannse (talk) 23:16, 20 Nov 2004 (UTC)

The arbcom enforcement says that Lir will be banned for a month if he edits under an account not listed on his userpage.

The IP address was not listed as such, and thus the proper block was a month. Snowspinner 23:31, Nov 20, 2004 (UTC)

I think it is a matter of interpretation whether an IP is included in the ruling about accounts. I wouldn't regard an IP as an "unauthorised account". If it's clarified as being the case, then I would support future bans for this. -- sannse (talk) 23:40, 20 Nov 2004 (UTC)

(see also Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration)

Do you really think it is appropriate to remove my response to Snowspinner's question from his talk page? Lirath Q. Pynnor

Yes, I do. In my opinion it was a purely provocative reply. Of course I won't revert if Snowspinner chooses to replace it. -- sannse (talk) 00:51, 21 Nov 2004 (UTC)

The problem, is that Snowspinner asked me to give him that information; so while you may feel it is a provocative reply, surely you should let Snowspinner decide that for himself. Secondly, how will Snowspinner replace it if he never realizes that you removed it? Lirath Q. Pynnor

I'm sure Snowspinner is fully aware of the message. He would have been notified about your post, and my reversion. I'm sure he would also have seen it on his watchlist. But as you are concerned, I've informed him about the addition of this edit to your parole page. As for it being an answer to his question - either answer truthfully or don't answer at all, this ridiculous answer was pure provocation. -- sannse (talk) 10:59, 21 Nov 2004 (UTC)

How would he have been notified? You have a strange view of watchlists; I certainly don't look at every page that is on my watchlist. In the future, you should respond on other people's talk pages -- that is what they are for. You should also refrain from deleting information on other people's talk pages. Lirath Q. Pynnor

The edits to his talk page would have triggered the notification banner as always. I will refrain from deleting comments from others talk pages except when there is good reason to do otherwise (as always). I judged this a good reason. And, as it says at the top of this page, I prefer to answer here - I find it easier and more convenient to keep conversations in one place rather than scattered (as do many others with a similar policy). If you are interested in my response, then please look for it here. -- sannse (talk) 15:43, 21 Nov 2004 (UTC)

If you want people to respond to your comments, you need to leave your comments on their talk page so that they can find them. It doesn't matter that you prefer to respond here -- when you respond here, nobody knwos that you responded here. You have no right to censor other user's talk page. Mind your own business. Lirath Q. Pynnor

Lir, if none of this were my business, I wouldn't have unblocked you in the first place. Having done so I will keep watching to see what the consequences of that decision are and will take action if and when I feel that is the right thing to do.
I see no point in continuing to discuss my habit of replying here - I'll just ask ... if you leave a message on an article talk page, where do you expect the reply? I think all would agree that reply goes with the question. And there is no difficulty in finding that reply. The same is true here. -- sannse (talk) 19:00, 21 Nov 2004 (UTC)

You've got some real problems. I hope you start thinking about your actions more. Lirath Q. Pynnor

So you whine, bitch, and complain on IRC, sannse helps you out, and this is your response? I am curious, Lir, why do you keep coming back to Wikipedia? There are thousands on places on the Internet where you could be trolling, and probably having a lot more fun at it than here... so why here? func(talk) 02:59, 22 Nov 2004 (UTC)
Sannse's job as a sysop was to unban me; I owe him no gratitude, especially not after his subsequent actions. I should never have been banned in the first place, and Sannse hasn't done a thing to address the underlying problems this site has with due process and judicial procedure.
Why do I keep coming back? I am curious how low you people are going to sink. This isn't about having fun, its about watching a bunch of jerks play petty politics with each other. I really hope you people get your shit together and actually make an NPOV encyclopedia your priority; but almost none of you seem to care much about that.
The trolls here are in the cabal, the rest of us just have minority viewpoints which we would like to discuss instead of having to put up with endless personal attacks and unfair rules of conduct that are only enforced in the most hypocritical ways. Lirath Q. Pynnor
No one has a "job" here, sannse reached out to assist you when no one else would. Having a minority view point is not some sort of excuse for being a rude and disruptive person. func(talk) 04:06, 22 Nov 2004 (UTC)
For the record, I also unbanned Lir in relation to this issue... prior to sannse in fact. :) --Dante Alighieri | Talk 23:19, Nov 22, 2004 (UTC)
I hadn't seen that there was an earlier unblock and reblock - this makes it even more important for this aspect of the arbitration committee ruling to be clarified -- sannse (talk) 23:55, 22 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Being a sysop is a job, in no way have I been disruptive. If I have been rude, it is only because sannse was rude to me. Lirath Q. Pynnor

Thank you for your support func
Lir - I won't apologise for carrying out the rulings of the arbitration committee if that's what you refer to when you say I was rude to you. But if you feel I was rude in any other way, then I do apologise for that - that was not my intention, and I have tried very hard to keep this polite. By the way, you seem to think that I'm male. I thought I had told you otherwise, but obviously I'm misremembering. So, now you know, I'm female. -- sannse (talk) 12:44, 22 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Sorry, I don't know that you responded because I didn't get a "You have messages" link because you were too lazy to respond on my talk page. Why should I care what sex you are, nobody on the wiki cares what sex I am! Don't apoligize to me for being rude, when you pretend you can't imagine what rude things you said or did -- it's rude to pretend to be apologetic. Lirath Q. Pynnor

As far as I know, the only time you have responded to questions on your gender was to Anthere - and then you specified that you preferred the pronoun "she". Since then I have been careful to always follow that preference. I noticed in your latest RfA that you referred to yourself as "he". If that's your preference then I'm happy to follow that instead. -- sannse (talk) 14:38, 22 Nov 2004 (UTC)

No problem Snowspinner -- sannse (talk) 19:54, 21 Nov 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Mediation

Sannse - for my money if you feel mediation is unlikely to work, then its an appropriate candidate for arbitration. I dont see a broader consensus doing the job, it needs a decision and direction given. FT2 18:12, Nov 21, 2004 (UTC)
I think at the moment it's not working, but that maybe an alternative format might. I would like to give the other party time to reply to my mail, and then will discuss with you further. Thanks -- sannse (talk) 19:00, 21 Nov 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Article Licensing

I've "started" the Free the Rambot Articles Project which aims to get users to release all of their contributions to the U.S. state, county, and city articles (if any) under the CC-by-sa 1.0 and 2.0 license (at minimum) or into the public domain if they prefer. A secondary, but equally important, goal is to get those users to release ALL of their edits for ALL articles. I've personally chosen to multi-license all of the rambot and Ram-Man contributions under the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike License so that other projects, such as WikiTravel, can use our articles. I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all your contributions (or at minimum those on the geographic articles) so that we can keep most of the articles available under the multi-license. Many users use the DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual template (or even MultiLicensePD for public domain) on their user page, but there are other templates for other options at Template messages/User namespace. If you only prefer using the GFDL, I understand, but I thought I'd at least ask, just in case, since the number of your edits is in the top 100. If you do want to do it, simply just copy and paste one of the above two templates into your user page and it will allow us to track those users who have done it. For example:

Option 1
I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

OR

Option 2
I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain (which many people do or don't like to do, see Wikipedia:Multi-licensing), you could replace DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual with MultiLicensePD -- Ram-Man 23:53, Nov 25, 2004 (UTC)

Hi Ram-Man. I've been thinking about this carefully, and for now I am going to stick with the GFDL for all my contributions. Basically my hopes are on an improved version of the GFDL that fits our needs more closely, and I want to hold out for that for a while longer. I'll be happy to reconsider at a later date. -- sannse (talk) 17:24, 1 Dec 2004 (UTC)

[edit] P & G

Sannse, you use secondary resources as the basis for removing my edit to the P&G satanic rumor problem. These resources are based on information obtained from the P&G public relations department. To say the rumors are unfounded is not a statement of fact, and should be eliminated from the article. The moon-and-stars logo began as a crude cross, and that term was in fact used by P&G in an earlier pamphlet on the evolution of the logo. That reference has now been eliminated due to the confrontation between P&G and the Church of Ouzo. The paper entitled "That Infamous Logo" is of more concern to P&G than any rumor it has encountered over the years, but due to the evidence that P&G conspired with the FBI to do an illegal investigation of me, P&G is afraid to even ask me to stop distributing the paper, much less take any legal action against me. As I said in my discussion comments, full documentation on this issue is available upon request. Robert Merlin Evenson/Church of Ouzo bobevenson@yahoo.com

Using secondary sources is correct for Wikipdia. Wikipedia is not the place for primary research. Nor is it the place for advocacy or accusations. Regards -- sannse (talk) 18:24, 27 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Hi. [edit] Vote for Undeletion VfU entry

Dear Sannse
Thank you for adding the entry on Tom Sotis to the Vote for Undeletes page. I deeply appreciate your taking the time. I have been contributing, a little, for some time to Wikipedia but have never yet had the experience of a user hitting me with a copyvio. Said user gave me instructions to add a permission note to the page's talk page, which I did. But the user made NO MENTION whatsoever re: the VfU page that you alerted me to.
I am not trying to post pastry or press release. I seriously believe that the entries I added to the Wiki_knowledge base re: martial arts are valid and of value.
People related to FMA Filipino Martial Arts such as Leo Gaje and Tom Sotis are well respected worldwide. Blatantly deleting these entries without alerting the contributor to the VfD or VfU pages seems more than harsh — irresponsible in fact.
So thank you again.

Keep well User:Mudthang 09:50 (GMT+2)

It's a bit more complicated than that, this is a big place, and Vague does a lot of work on copyright problems. Its easy to miss a message, and I'm sure no ill intent was intended. He did follow the correct procedure. I see you have restored the page - that wasn't strictly the right way to go about getting it restored, but I'm not going to fuss about that. So it's all water under the bridge - let's move on an all that -- sannse (talk) 10:46, 19 Dec 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks, Ramiro L. Colon

Thank you and congratulations on your nomination. I'm glad I voted for you! You know I beleive that User:Willy High on Wheels or what ever his name is, has been responsible for other acts of vandalizim. Merry Christmas and I wish you and your loved ones a very Happy New Year! Tony the Marine

All should be back to normal now. Yes, Willy is a regular vandal - we fixed something like 200 page moves today :-/ He is blocked each time we see him, but will no doubt be back. Thanks for the congratulations and the support. -- sannse (talk) 01:29, 23 Dec 2004 (UTC)

[edit] IRC discussion

Thanks for the long talk. I have taken a couple of actions as a result. A vote regarding one such page, and a wording update for RFC. -- Netoholic @ 07:58, 2004 Dec 28 (UTC)

Thanks for letting me know Netoholic, I've commented on both pages -- sannse (talk) 22:54, 28 Dec 2004 (UTC)
