Hey all,
I am a researcher for a company called Actuality Productions, Inc. We do TV style documentaries for the History Channel. Currently I do most of my work for the popular show Modern Marvels. Ok, enough with the name dropping...
I use wikipedia as one of my primary research tools. Essentially, I have short, non-specific chunks of time in which I have to become a mini-expert on a topic, and then provide the producers with the best data/research material possible. I am also responsible for fact-checking on the voice-over scripts.
At this rate, I read 15-200 wikipedia articles per day (weekends excluded). Typically, these articles provide great background info on a topic and always give me a good set of further topics for research.
Much thanks to the community for helping me master the worlds of knowledge that make up our 'Modern Marvels'. So far, I have tread lightly over this vast website, with only a few spelling and grammer corrections, but (given time) I plan on contributing at least one article per show.
And to all History Channel viewers out there: Thanks for supporting intelligent TV!
