[edit] Name changed to Sandals Cay

I can't find details of when it was changed, but it's pretty obvious that it was changed. Searching the Internet, you can find many older references to Kokomo being an offshore island at Sandals Royal Caribbean, but all newer references (including the Sandals site) refer to it as Sandals Cay.

Also, please note that one of their other resorts (Sandals Royal Bahamian) also has an offshore island called Sandals Cay, so it's not a unique name.

[edit] Not really the inspiration for the song?

I haven't found anything to support the claim that this island is the inspiration for the song. In fact, what I've found seems to indicate that it isn't. Apparently, John Phillips liked the name and wanted to use it as the title to represent all tropical places and islands.

There is also a "Kokomo" resort on Grassy Key "off the Florida Keys". It's newer than the song, though.
