[edit] Please define "San Francisco Social Season"

Someone refers the opening night of the San Francisco Opera as the opening of the "San Francisco Social Season". There are many, myself included, who feel left out by this statement. People of all types socialize all year long; not just San Francisco opera buffs.

How do you define a 'social season"? Don't we socialize all year long?

Thank you,

Truly,

I'm not going to attempt to define it, but it does seem to be a rather old-fashioned reference to what was once (and maybe still is) regarded as the beginning of a period of "society" activity for all the "right" people.... In my opinion, having that sentence in the text adds nothing of value to the article and it could just as well be removed as far as I'm concerned.... So go at it... Viva-Verdi 14:39, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
