The Santos Michelena Municipality is one of the 18 municipalities (municipios) that makes up the Venezuelan state of Aragua and, according to a 2007 population estimate by the National Institute of Statistics of Venezuela, the municipality has a population of 44,409.[1] The town of Las Tejerías is the shire town of the Santos Michelena Municipality.[2]

The Santos Michelena Municipality, according to a 2007 population estimate by the National Institute of Statistics of Venezuela, has a population of 44,409 (up from 38,638 in 2000). This amounts to 2.7% of the state's population.[3] The municipality's population density is 324.9 people per square mile (201.86/km²).[4]

The mayor of the Santos Michelena Municipality is Reinaldo Lorca, re-elected on October 31, 2004 with 32% of the vote.[5][6] The municipality is divided into two parishes; Capital Santos Michelena and Tiara.[7]
