Santo Domingo Norte

Santo Domingo Norte is a municipality of the Santo Domingo province in the Dominican Republic. Within the municipality there is one municipal district (distrito municipal): La Victoria.[1]

As of the 2002 census the municipality had a total population of 368,842 inhabitants, 280,099 living in its urban settlements and 88,743 in its rural districts (Secciones). 321,178 did live in its seat (cabecera literally head), 266,987 in the city of Santo Domingo Norte itself and 54,191 in its rural districts. The municipal district La Victoria had 47,664 inhabitants, 13,112 living in the city itself and 34,552 in its rural districts.[2] For comparison with other municipalities and municipal districts see the list of municipalities and municipal districts of the Dominican Republic.

Santo Domingo Norte was created as municiplaty in 2001 by law 163-01 splitting the Santo Domingo province from the Distrito Nacional including those part of metropolitan Santo Domingo north of the Isabela River. [3]
