Santiago Cohen

'Santiago Cohen' (b. 1954) is a cartoonist, animator, fine artist, graphic novel illustrator based in Hoboken, NJ.


Santiago was born in Mexico City and received a BA in Communication Design at the Metropolitan University in Mexico, and an MS from Pratt Institute on the same subject.

He has designed greeting cards for MOMA, he designed the Comedy Central logo, illustrations for the New York Times and other major publications. assisted Art Spiegelman and Francoise Mouly for RAW magazine, designed and animated award winning cartoons for R.O. Blechman[1] at the Ink Tank animation studio for HBO, CTW, The Cartoon Network, MTV and PBS. He received an award from the Xeric foundation[2] to do his Graphic Novel, The Fifth Name. He is a children book illustrator. And has made comic strips for Drawn and Quarterly, Rosetta, and Mexican publications. He teaches in HTHS and shows his paintings in the New York Area. .

He is married to Ethel Cesarman, and has two children, Diego and Isabel Cohen.

He enjoys chirping, cooking, and listening to National Public Radio.
