Santa Lucía de Tirajana (first part Spanish meaning Saint Lucia) is a Canarian municipality in the southeastern portion of the island of Gran Canaria in the Las Palmas province in the Canary Islands. Santa Lucía de Tirajana is a suburb of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The population is 53,820 (ISTAC, 2003), its density is 882.58/km² and the area is 61.56 km². Santa Lucía de Tirajana is situated in the mountains and the valley area that are mainly covered with greens and forests. Barren land dominates the north while farmlands and an urban community lies to the southeast and the industrial area as well as the Atlantic Ocean. The residential area to the southeast that has more inhabitants than the town centre. Santa Lucía de Tirajana is located South of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Teide and NE of Puerto Rico and is accessed with the GC1 superhighway. The main industries are agriculture, some businesses and tourism.
