Santa Cruz das Flores (pron. IPA: ['sɐ̃tɐ kɾuʃ dɐʃ 'floɾɨʃ]) is a municipality in Portugal, located in the Flores Island, in the western part of the autonomous region of Azores with a total area of 70.9 km² and a total population of 2,500 inhabitants.
The municipality is composed of 4 parishes.
The present mayor is Manuel Alberto da Silva Pereira, elected by the Socialist Party.
The municipal holiday is June 24.
[edit] Settlements and geographic areas
The population is 2,493(2001) and the area is 72.11 km². The municipality is in the Northern portion of the island of Flores. It is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean on all sides except South, where is borders Lajes das Flores to the south; Corvo is visible from the North coast.
Santa Cruz has a few schools, a lyceum, a gymnasium, churches and squares (Praças).
The village was founded in 1548.
