Sangi Railway
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Sangi Railway Co., Ltd. (三岐鉄道株式会社 Sangi Tetsudō?) is the railway company in Mie Prefecture, Japan. It also operates bus lines. The company was founded in 1928. Its original line, Sangi Line mainly functioned as a freight rail of cements, but in recent years, it also became important as a commuter rail of Yokkaichi. Hokusei Line was ceded from Kintetsu to Sangi Railway in 2003, when Kintetsu was going to abandon the line. Unlike Sangi Line with "normal" 3 ft 6 in (1,067 mm) gauge, Hokusei Line is known as the one of the very few 2 ft 6 in (762 mm) narrow gauge line in the country.
