Sanford J. Ungar

Sanford J. "Sandy" Ungar (born 1945) is an American journalist, author, and current president of Goucher College in Baltimore, Maryland.
Ungar earned a bachelor's degree in government from Harvard University and a master's degree from the London School of Economics. He has been a correspondent for United Press International, Newsweek, The Washington Post, and The Economist. He served as Washington editor of The Atlantic and managing editor of Foreign Affairs. From 1979-82, he was a host of All Things Considered on National Public Radio. From 1999-2001, he was Director of Voice of America. He became President of Goucher College on July 1, 2001.
In addition to serving as president of Goucher College, Ungar teaches a freshman liberal arts Free Speech seminar with Dr. Kaushik Bagchi.
Ungar is the author of six books, including The Papers & The Papers: An Account of the Legal and Political Battle over the Pentagon Papers, which won the George Polk Award in 1973, and Fresh Blood: The New American Immigrants (2006).
