The original Sanford-Brown Institute began in 1977 in New York. The school is a for-profit postsecondary learning institution. SBI offers many different campuses in states all across the country. SBI – Tampa, which opened in 1989, provides programs in several different healthcare professions.

SBI – Tampa offers several programs of study in the healthcare industry. If attended on a full time basis, some programs can be completed in as little as 9 to 20 months. Many programs include full-time unpaid clinical externships. Classes are scheduled both days and evenings.[1]

Admission requirements include (but are not limited to):

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • personal interview
  • certification of good health
  • entrance assessment (for some programs)[1]

Sanford-Brown Institute – Tampa is located at 5701 E Hillsborough Ave, Suite 1417, Tampa, FL 33610. The school is open 9 a.m. – 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Friday, and 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Saturday. The Tampa area has thousands of acres of beach and park areas, as well as several large-scale shopping malls.

Accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS) to award diplomas and occupational associate degrees.[2] The Medical Assistant and Surgical Technology programs are accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools. The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs accredits the Surgical Technology program.
