"Sandwich time" is a term that Linux users employ referring to the time it takes for the system to compile programs from their source code. It has earned this nickname because the process used to only take about the same amount of time that you would require to make and eat a sandwich. With the growth of technology, however, has come the lengthening of sandwich time, but this has not diminished the use of the term.
