As a part of the Fulton County School System consolidation plan, Sandtown was formed in 2004 because of the over crowding in Bear Creek and Camp Creek .It's motto is "Failure is not an option, and mediocrity is not the standard.
[edit] Mrs. Kiné Geathers "Principal"
Mrs. Geathers began her career in Dekalb County. After two years in Dekalb, she moved to Fulton County where she worked at North Springs High School as a counselor and at Banneker High School as the curriculum assistant principal. In 2006, she became principal of Sandtown Middle School.

The school offers various clubs, intramural sports, and extramural teams to round out students' learning opportunities. Clubs include drama, student government, robotics, Beta club and numerous others. Students also can take part in connections courses such as band, chorus, dance, orchestra, computer literacy and diversified technology. Sandtown's budding athletes can participate in volleyball, soccer, basketball, tennis and track.
