Sandpiper 565
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Sandpiper 565 is a sailing sloop with four berth accommodation. She is one of the popular compact cruisers in eastern Canada and in the Great Lakes region.
This English Channel craft was first manufactured by Maxim Marine Ltd., Warsash, Southampton, England and later was built under licence by CL Boatworks, at the time located in Pickering, Ontario. In the 1970s Maxim Marine built two similar-styled small cruisers, the Sailfish 18 and 25.
The English "Sailfish" shares many characteristics with the Sandpiper 565.

[edit] Sailing Characteristics
Due to her short waterline and wide beam, the Sandpiper is not a really fast boat but she shows a good pointing ability. A little tender at first, she rapidly becomes stiffer as the 300 lb. retractable keel begins to do its job.
This boat is also very easy to beach and trailer.
