Sandia Furtado has risen to fame with her portrayal of the character Nethra Reddy, a member of the Indian women's national hockey team, in the Hindi "Bollywood" film "Chak De India".

She is a student, residing in the Bandra region of Mumbai, India. A keen hockey player herself, she is a student of St. Xavier's College, Mumbai. Her most impressive dialogue in the movie is a sarcastic comparison of the difference between Tamil and Telugu.
