Sanddef Pryd Angel also spelled Samdde in Modern Welsh and Sanddev in Middle Welsh, is mentioned in the tale Culhwch and Olwen as being one of only three men to survive the Battle of Camlann. According to the tale this was because he was so fair that "all thought he was an angel helping." In this he is the opposite counterpart of Morfran.
