Sandcross Lane Church

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sandcross Lane Church is an evangelical church in Reigate. The church's building is situated on Sandcross Lane, near the A217 on the southern outskirts of the town.

[edit] History

Sandcross Lane Church began during World War 2, as an outreach from a Gospel Hall in Redhill, to children in Woodhatch, Reigate. Initially, they met in the cricket pavilion at Hartswood until, in 1947, an adult group was large enough to buy the current plot of land in Sandcross Lane. The first building, a wooden structure, became known as Sandcross Hall. Ten years later the church constructed a new building, which was dedicated by Major General Sir William Dobbie.[1]
