San Pedro High School is a public high school located in the San Pedro section of Los Angeles, California.
The school is served by the Los Angeles Unified School District. The school celebrated their 100th Anniversary in 2003.
San Pedro High School is home to protected landmarks, the Administration and Language Arts buildings, both built in 1936 under the Works Progress Administration. San Pedro High School also has a Math/Science Building, a Vocational Arts Building, a Cafeteria, a large gym and a small gym.
A groundbreaking was held in June 2007 to celebrate the start of construction on the schools newest gym, construction is expected to take 15 months and completion is estimated for late 2008.

The San Pedro community has been a large supporter of the San Pedro High Football Team. Games frequently sell out with over 4,000 people in attendance on the home section. The Head Coach for the Varsity Team is Mike Walsh, who has been the coaching for 27 remarkable years. Walsh has Coached Back To Back (2005, 2006) Marine League Champions. In their 2006 season the team was undefeated for 8 weeks until losing by 3 points in a game of field goals to rival Narbonne High, then the team went a 3 game winning streak and went to the CIF LA City Section Championship Game and ending the season 12-2. The 2006 season was a memorable season for most, because at San Pedro the fans and team despite losing the championship they still have the sense of pride and dignity of a true San Pedro Pirate. The teams most recent season record(2007)gathered up a total 7 wins and 4 losses. The team has lost several team mates to season-ending injuries. La'Terian "LT" Tasby (#85 2007) the perfect example of what good sportman ship and hard work was shot and killed October 27th, 2007. Tasby's Legacy will live forever in the teams heart for all he has done for the team. Tasby's teammates and school friends signed a document to retire his Varsity Football jersey number 85, that is now retired in his honor.

[edit] Marine Science Magnet
The Marine Science Math Science Technology Magnet at San Pedro High School is a four year college preparatory program which allows college bound students to focus on math and science. Students enrolled in the academic program are required to complete four years of math and science classes and are assigned community service hours focusing in marine science.
The primary focus is marine science, so students have the opportunity to enroll in specialized science classes including Marine Biology, Physical Oceanography, and Advanced Marine Science. By working with the Marine Mammal Care Center[1], students may also take classes and participate in a Marine Mammal Internship on site. This program offers students opportunities to work hands on with marine animals.
[edit] Police Academy Magnet
The Police Academy Magnet is also a four year program that focuses on careers in law enforcement. Students enroll in a program of both academic and physical classes. The four year program includes training, community service and regular graduation requirements. The Police Magnet employs a full time Los Angeles Police Department officer to work as the students mentor and educator. The police officer provides a connection to the law enforcement for the students.
Students are required to complete 50 hours of community service each year; 15 of which must be law enforcement related. Students accepted into the Police Academy Magnet have the opportunity to participate in the Acura LA Bike Tour, the Los Angeles Federal Bar Association Medal of Valor Luncheon and internships with Sony Pictures in different fields.
[edit] Air Force JROTC
The Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) program provides an educational and training program to produce leaders and active citizens of America. JROTC is a four year program giving students the opportunity to access citizenship training and aerospace knowledge. Physical Education (PE) credit is given to students toward graduation requirements for the 9th and 10th grade students and elective credit for 11th and 12th grade students.
JROTC is completely free to all students. All materials and uniforms are provided. Students are required to wear their uniform at least once per week. Textbooks and workbooks are also provided to the students with the requirement that they return them at the end of the year.
Their Unit CA-956 has won the Honorable Distinguished Unit Award for six consecutive years the only school organization to win the highest team/group award possible five years in a row. The Instructors are Major Douglas A. Stiegleigter & Chief Master Sergeant Tyrone E. Wood.
