San Marcos de Colón
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
San Marcos de Colón is a municipality in the Honduran department of Choluteca.
This beautiful town is located on the Pan-American Highway near the Nicaraguan border town of Estelí.
There are several nearby outreach missions such as the Baptist Church (Good Samaritan sponsored outreaches) and the church of Christ (Healing Hands International sponsored Mission Lazarus.)
These missions focus predominantly on the Christian concept of "Loving your Neighbor" through provision of medical services, educational opportunities for local residents, and staffing and funding of orphanages, and other family outreach related activities.
The climate has traditionally been described as tropical. However, due to widespread agricultural deforestation and a higher altitude (3500 to 5000 feet above sea level); the climate can be more aptly described in many cases as temperate.
It can be dusty in the dry season (january through march).
