San Lucas, Michoacán

San Lucas is a municipality located in the Mexican state of Michoacán. The municipality has an area of 474.41 square kilometres (0.30% of the surface of the state) and is bordered to the north by the municipality of Tiquicheo, to the east and south by the state of Guerrero, and to the west by Huetamo. The municipality had a population of 16,953 inhabitants according to the 2005 census.[1] Its municipal seat is the city of the same name.

San Lucas is located in what was once known as Turipécuaro, or "Place of Mourning" in Tarascan.[2]
