San Javier is a town, and the surrounding municipality of the same name, in the Mexican state of Sonora. The elevation is 650 meters. The area of the municipality is 793.27 sq.km. and the population was 279 in 2000. Surrounding municipalities are Soyopa to the north, Onavas, to the east, Suaqui Grande, to the south, and Colorada, to the west.
Most of the small population is involved in animal raising and subsistence farming.
