San Gorgonio Wilderness is the home of some great hiking, backpacking and several 10,000+ feet peaks, including the highest peak in Southern California — Mount San Gorgonio (11,499 ft/3,505 m). The United States Congress designated the San Gorgonio Wilderness in 1964 and it now has a total of 94,664 acres (383 km²). It is located in the San Bernardino mountains in Southern California and managed by San Bernardino National Forest
