San Giovanni la Punta (San Giuvanni la Punta in Sicilian) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Catania in the Italian region Sicily, located about 160 km southeast of Palermo and about 8 km northeast of Catania. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 20,385 and an area of 10.6 km².[1]
The municipality of San Giovanni la Punta contains the frazione (subdivision) Trappeto.

San Giovanni la Punta is the birthplace and native city of the Venerable Gabriele Allegra O.F.M. (1907-1976) an important Franciscan priest and scripture scholar who devoted his life to spreading Christianity in Asia and performed the first complete translation of the Catholic Bible into the Chinese language.
