San Dorligo della Valle (in Slovenian Dolina) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Trieste in the Italian region Friuli-Venezia Giulia, located about 4 km southeast of Trieste, on the border with Slovenia. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 6,019 and an area of 24.5 km².[1] According to the 1971 census, 70,5% of the population are Slovenes
San Dorligo della Valle borders the following municipalities: Koper/Capodistria (Slovenia), Hrpelje-Kozina (Slovenia), Muggia (Milje) , Sežana (Slovenia), Trieste (Trst) .
Home of a spring festival known as the Majenca (held in May) which culminates in the falling of a cherry tree, tied to the top of a tall pole.
