The San Diego State University shooting occurred on August 15, 1996.

Thirty-six year old Frederick Davidson, a Graduate Engineering student, while apparently defending his thesis, shot and killed his three professors, Constantinos Lyrintzis, Cheng Liang, and D. Preston Lowrey III, at San Diego State University. The reasons given were mental problems. On July 19, 1997, he was convicted and sentenced to life in prison.[1]
