CityBeat is published every Wednesday with a weekly circulation of 50,000. San Diego CityBeat has earned strong community readership by reflecting the diverse area it serves. The distribution area includes all of San Diego County, from the Mexican border in the South County, to Oceanside in the North County.

Formerly known as SLAMM Magazine. Then owner/operator/promotor/artist manager, Kevin Hellman, now holds the title of Publisher of the growing weekly.

In 2005, Editor David Rolland made news of his own when he asked then mayor of San Diego Dick Murphy to step down form his elected seat. A week later, Time Magazine named Murphy #3 in their list of the nations 10 Worst Mayor’s. A few short weeks later, 3 months into his 2nd term, San Diego mayor Dick Murphy resigned.
