San Damiano d'Asti is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Asti in the Italian region Piedmont, located about 40 km southeast of Turin and about 13 km southwest of Asti. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 8,024 and an area of 48.0 km².[1]

The municipality of San Damiano d'Asti contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Lavezzole, San Luigi, San Grato, San Giulio, San Pietro, Gorzano, Verneglio, Valmolina, Vascagliana, and Torrazzo.

San Damiano d'Asti borders the following municipalities: Antignano, Asti, Canale, Cantarana, Celle Enomondo, Cisterna d'Asti, Ferrere, Govone, Priocca, San Martino Alfieri, and Tigliole.

The area of the municipality was once time occupied by Astixio comune and its suburbs like Gorzano,Lavezzole and Marcelengo.In 1275,after the lost war against Asti,Astixio was destroyed.Instead of it,astigiani built a villanova.
