San Antonio Police Department

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The San Antonio Police Department can trace its beginnings to 1846 when the first City Marshal was appointed[1]. The city had its laws enforced only by Texas Rangers and the City Marshals until the police force became modernized in 1875 when they were issued uniforms.

In 2004, the SWAT unit of the San Antonio Police Department took first place in the general competition at the World Swat Challenge and Conference held in Moyock, North Carolina, overtaking some of the best SWAT teams from around the world.

Today the SAPD is an effective police force that protects San Antonio.
