English translation: "The so-called '28 of October fiesta' it is not accepted by all the people, because our patron saint is Saint Andrew the Apostle whose festival is celebrated the 30th of November by all the Itzapeco people. The celebration of the 28th is made not to Saint Simón, but to Maximón, so his celebration is not to a saint."
Maximón is not a Catholic saint, though many people burn candles and make offerings to him requesting his favor. Some refer to him as the patron saint of drunkards and gamblers.
