Reaction (formerly known as Shotgun Called Mary) is the Staffordshire based post-punk band lead by frontman Sam Garner.

[edit] Early Years (2006-2007)
After quitting a previous band due to members not being commited, Sammo formed a new band with a group of friends. Max Freeman first joined Sammo, playing Bass. Then a search for a singer and a drummer began.
After some deliberation, Dan Cooper joined the band as lead vocals, (at this point Sammo had no interest in singing whatsoever). Dan's brother, James, then decided to join the band on Drums. Shortly before their first gig (a small concert at School), Callum Wood (future guitarist) agreed to sing backing vocals with Dan.
Only weeks later, James left the band, leaving the band without a Drummer. Dropping guitar, Sammo took over at Drums. But the lack of a Guitarist was just as daunting as the lack of a drummer. However, Callum played some Classical guitar and was eager to learn electric guitar.
Luckily, Sammo was happy to teach Callum what he knew on guitar. Learning fairly quickly, Callum became the guitarist of Teen Revolution. But Callum and Sammo were both playing instruments quite unfamiliar to themselves and Dan having limited Vocal talents at the time ensued a limited setlist. Almost every song the band played was a Green Day cover. After a couple of shows, the band was falsely publicly labeled a 'Green Day Tribute Band'.
Moving slowly, they made steady progress. After a year of gigging, tensions rose between Max and Dan. Dan had commitment issues and Max wanted him out. For some time, they persevered, and after 6 months of on/off practice sessions, the band collapsed.
[edit] Shotgun Called Mary (2007)
At this point Sammo and Callum were stuck for a while. They needed a band, it was, according to Sammo, "The only thing we ever wanted to do." Realising his roots, Sammo began to sing again, it was slow progress, but it worked and by the start of 2007, he was confident in his ability to front a band. Also, Callum had been working long and hard on his guitaring skills. Sammo once quoted "If the student fails to surpass the teacher then both have failed" (Sammo being the teacher). These days Callum says that 'The teacher has done excellently'. After years of being in inadequete bands, the two remaining members were finally ready to form a 'Kick-Ass Band'.
Now they faced but one problem, they needed a Drummer. This was a tough time for Sam and Callum as there were no Drummers available in the area. But, after some time, another friend, Nick Cross, had taken up Drums. Sammo was uncertain at first, he stated: "He was nowhere near as good as me" but he learned quickly, and in a few months the final Band was formed, Sammo playing Rhythm Guitar whilst singing lead, Callum Playing Lead Guitar while retaining his old post as Backing Vocalist and Nick on Drums, completing the first band, Shotgun Called Mary.
[edit] From The Top (2008-Present)
A year or so after christening the Band 'Shotgun Called Mary', the band members decided to change the name to 'Reaction', but are currently debating whether to keep it or not. After a few months of being a 3-Piece band, the need for a Bassist started to arrise. After a while of searching, Tom Leighton joined the Band completing the band's final line-up. After a brief disagreement, the band is due to start recording their debut EP, From The Top, later this year. [1]
