[edit] Middle name

Encyclopaedia Britannica and others give Samuel David Gross, [1] but a contemporary biographer and renowned surgeon in his own right, J.M. La Costa, gives Samuel Dent Gross as his full name. [2] Jokestress 08:55, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

A curator at Jefferson wrote to say Thomas Dent Mutter was Gross' colleague and coeval, so DaCosta may have gotten confused. Changing for now. Jokestress 21:44, 1 February 2007 (UTC)
