Talk:Sam Melville

CliifC, thanks for making this article much, much better. I'm changing the section on how he died because there are at least three different accounts of how he might have died in the press and an additional four or five accounts of his death from the Attica inmates none of which seem more credible or reliable than the next. - Thanks, I really didn't change very much from your original version beyond reordering some sections and bulletizing the bombings. As to how Melville died, the NY Times story reports a prison guard saying that "Melville had been running with four homemade bombs in an apparent attempt to blow up a 500-gallon fuel tank when he was shot." I wasn't so sure about that, considering the other exaggerated claims made immediately after the riot was put down, maybe that guard had just watched too many action movies. Do the accounts that you know of all at least agree that he was shot by the authorities as they broke in? --CliffC 23:54, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

- Yes. All accounts agree that he was shot by the authorities. Differences have to do with what he was doing when he was shot. Everything from trying to surrender and being executed in cold blood to trying to ignite bombs and being killed in the act of detonating the prison. AMProSoft 13:20, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
