[edit] Notability

I'm going to say that being the first minority owner in NASCAR is an assertion of notability. That's why I've deleted the request for speedy deletion. However, the article needs expanded, including citing reliable sources. —C.Fred (talk) 15:40, 1 January 2008 (UTC)

I'm sorry about putting up the deletion request, but I feel that the article has very little notability, regardless of citations or expansion. For instance, an article dedicated to the first man to play a Klingon wouldn't be of much notability, despite being the first... In addition, the notice isn't to be removed by the creator of the article, which is why I'm about to put it back up. Alloranleon (talk) 15:42, 1 January 2008 (UTC)
I agree with Fred's statement, and added a tag for the deletion to be contested. --D-Day (talk) 15:54, 1 January 2008 (UTC)
Fair enough. It's nothing personal, I hope you realise. :| EDIT: The article is beginning to look better, but my dispute is with the notability of Sam Belnavis, or rather lack thereof... Alloranleon (talk) 15:52, 1 January 2008 (UTC)
(ec) Additionally, the speedy notice was not removed by the creator of the article. Or, if I thought it wasn't a notable subject when I read the article, I'd have gone ahead and clicked the "delete" button at the top of my screen. :) If you have issues with the notability of the subject, tag it with {{Notability}}; however, notability is asserted now, so the article no longer meets criterion for speedy deletion A7. —C.Fred (talk) 15:55, 1 January 2008 (UTC)
I'm afraid the notability is still in question, as no independent consensus to the contrary has been reached. Still, fair's fair, I'll add the notability tag. No hard feelings, I hope. :\ Alloranleon (talk) 15:57, 1 January 2008 (UTC)
Just ensure that the article does not get deleted for a bad reason, and there won't be. Thanks for your help just the same, as this article was in pretty sorry shape. --D-Day (talk) 16:14, 1 January 2008 (UTC)
Thanks! Alloranleon (talk) 16:38, 1 January 2008 (UTC)
Several people have expressed disagreement with speedy deleting this article (add me to the list of those in disagreement). This article should only be deleted after a full discussion at WP:AFD - it is not eligible for speedy or prod deletion. Royalbroil 05:33, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
It is technically eligible for prod deletion; however, since I would oppose the deletion, it would be pointless to so tag the article. —C.Fred (talk) 05:53, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Other items on his Roush Racing bio

Looking at his bio on the Roush Racing site http://www.roushracing.com/sponsorship/default.asp?page=/jack_roush/05SalesExecBios/SamBelnavis.htm, I think that his involvement with Bill Cosby Racing probably warrants a mention. However, I'd rather not include that based just on his bio at his employer's website.

(That said, I think it's a very valid source to list his current position with Roush and to verify that he is currently employed there.) —C.Fred (talk) 16:06, 1 January 2008 (UTC)
