Samvel Melkonyan (Armenian: Սամվել Մելքոնյան, born on March 15, 1984 in Yerevan, Soviet Union) is an Armenian football midfielder, who plays for Ukrainian Premier League club Metalurh Donetsk. Samvel is also a member of the Armenian national team, and currently has 21 caps since his debut in 2005.

Samvel began his professional career playing for Spartak Yerevan. When Spartak merged with Banants, Samvel Melkonyan automatically trasferred to Banants. He has been one of the stars at his new club for the past few years. Melkonyan's performances for the national team have alerted the interest of several European clubs, with scouts from S.S. Lazio, Celtic Glasgow and Hamburger SV, all present at recent Amernia NT fixtures, however in February, 2008 Samvel signed with Metalurh Donetsk.
